Symposium on Decarbonization in Steel Sector 2017

Emissions from the industrial sector represent approximately a quarter of global emissions, more than half of these originate from the combined production of steel and cement,and more than 60% of the world crude steel is produced in Asia, mainly in China, Japan and Korea. Carbon capture, utilization and storage technology, related applications, policy analysis and economic research have significant roles to play in managing the emissions from the steel sector.

The Symposium on Decarbonization: CCUS Perspective in Steel Sector, which is co-organized by Peking University and Global CCS Institute, and is supported by China Iron and Steel Association and BHP. The event was held on May 10, 2017, at Stanford Centre of Peking University, Beijing, China. Governmental officials, industrial experts, and scholars attended the events to address key technical, policy and economic issues related to CCUS in the Steel Sector.
